Check Nothing You Can't Easily Replace

Your suspicions confirmed yet again: Video shows baggage handlers at the Orlando airport stealing valuables from checked luggage. They'd watch TSA agents look through bags, wait to spot something valuable, then go to an area out of view of cameras, take the stuff, and walk out. The TSA was totally unaware; the thieves worked for a subcontractor handling baggage. A sting caught them in the act after a guy who bought a laptop on eBay discovered it was stolen and went to the police. Moral: don't check a bag if you can help it. (I fly a lot, and I've reduced what I carry to essentials that fit into one large but size-acceptable carry-on for the overhead and a "personal item" backpack for under the seat. Last thing I want to do is have to wait for a bag at the carousel, or worry that something's going to go AWOL from it.) (WESH-TV/Daytona Beach-Orlando)
