His Pension Wasn't Enough?

The armed robbery-turned-murder at a Pennsylvania Turnpike toll booth was committed by a retired state trooper, which indicates that this guy might have used what inside information he knew to plot this attack. I mean, who would time everything to tie up the collectors and wait for the toll collection vehicle to arrive, other than someone who knew what time and where that vehicle would be? He just didn't apparently plan for what would happen if the collectors fought back, and that's when chaos ensued and he shot the security guard and another employee. You have to wonder how long this guy planned to do this; you gotta assume that while he was still a trooper, he was taking mental notes on the toll collection schedule, picking the most remote location, and waiting for the day when he could take action.
