The upshot of the story in which a TV reporter in Louisiana tried to get public records about a mayor's salary and ended up handcuffed and ticketed is that autocrats, even ones whose kingdoms are smallish towns, have zero respect for the public's right to know, and it's the media's job to be insistent. Of course, Trump tells the media what to do and they do it, so that's not a good sign. But you should always be skeptical and looking for the truth, even from politicians and candidates you like.
