Short Term Profit Trumps Everything Moral
-
You would think that since the idea of moving production to other countries is such a hot button issue, major companies would be a little gun shy about it, but no, there are savings to be had, so Ford is moving production of some of its small cars to Mexico, and it's hoping that deals it made with unions to keep production of some other vehicles in the U.S. will blunt any opposition. Still, how do you argue with labor costs being a fraction of what it would cost in America? That is, if you're the CEO or board members? Because shareholders want profits, and cheap overseas labor means profits. (Los Angeles Times)
