On Behalf Of Southern California: Do We Not Entertain You, World?
-
Maybe the weirdest high-speed -- but not always high-speed -- chase happened Thursday here in L.A., in which two guys in a Mustang convertible with the top down in the rain, allegedly running from having robbed a house down in Cerritos, did donuts on Hollywood Boulevard, ran over spike strips and kept going even with one wheel busted, almost got hemmed in by the TMZ Tour Bus, threw stuff at some other cars and waved to other folks, led other cars in a little parade, and, ultimately, came to a stop on a side street in South L.A., where they discovered that the cops had... lost them. Sort of. Seems that the choppers followed them, but a jurisdictional matter meant that the LAPD who'd been chasing them had to back off and there were no county sheriff's cars nearby, so the guys just hung out chatting and hanging with friends on the sidewalk while they waited for the cops to catch up. It was surreal. Check the video; it's an all-timer. (KNBC-TV/Los Angeles)
