Just To Be Safe, We'll Put You On The Waiting List For Cremation, Too
-
Here's yet another story about how Canada's vaunted health care system fails people in the worst possible way: a woman who died because she had to wait for approval for a stem cell transplant from Ontario's bureaucrats. The procedure works and probably would have saved her life, but they're short on clinics who can do it within the province, and they farm out the work to -- yes -- American doctors, but they put you on the lost and if you die waiting, well, too bad. Basically, it's the "death panel" scenario proponents of the kind of system Canada has tend to minimize as "scare tactics." But we've seen multiple reports in Canadian newspapers (and not conservative ones, either) in which people were left to die or suffer because the bureaucrats in charge couldn't or wouldn't approve treatment that would have helped them.
