You Can Get The Same View On A Postcard, And It's A Lot Safer

While someone was threatening to jump from a bridge a short stroll away, a woman actually fell or jumped from the Los Angeles City Hall observation deck but managed to survive because she landed on a ledge a floor below. And if she fell, that's something you can talk about: Acrophobia, fear of high places. I can look out of a window on a high floor, but I don't get too close to the glass. I would NEVER go out in that glass box thing on the Sears/Willis Tower in Chicago, with nothing between you and the sidewalk except a pane of glass. I've looked down from the CN Tower and the Empire State Building and got a little nervous. Yet I routinely look out airplane windows at the ground 35,000 feet below and that's not a problem. Can't explain that. (Los Angeles Daily News)
