Speak No Evil. Or No Officially-Sanctioned Good. Just Say What They Let You Say

You wanna know why I have a hard time considering the UFC as a real sports organization rather than a WWE equivalent? It's things like what happened Saturday, when Dana White threw reporter Ariel Helwani and two others out of UFC 200 and banned them from credentials for life for the mortal sin of DOING THEIR JOB and scooping the Brock Lesnar return before White was ready to announce it. That's the kind of petty BS control-freak thing that even Roger Goodell wouldn't do. But it's the kind of thing that, when tolerated, means less and less information will make it to the public without the official spin. You may think, well, so what, it's only MMA. Or only sports. But when the Republican nominee-apparent is hinting he'd do similar things to his critics, it's a sign of how fragile free speech can be, and how tyranny, in all quarters, has its appeal to some people.
