They Shoulda Spent It On Trying To Get The Whalers Back
-
Hartford spent millions on a minor league ballpark for its new Double A team. It's still not open, and we're a few months into the season. Now, the city has fired the developer and contractor and the park will apparently not be open at all this season, with the team playing temporarily in Norwich. So, financial disaster, but at least it's in the open. Ballparks are so often poor investments -- they more often just relocate and reassign dollars already in the market rather than attract truly new business, and cost taxpayers a LOT to do it -- that when a case like this pops up, you shouldn't be surprised.
