Because You Can't Get Anything From The People Who Did The Actual Killing
-
It's true that the use of social media by terrorists to recruit and disseminate information is shameful, but when the family of a victim of the Paris attacks sues Twitter, Facebook, and Google and blames them for their loved ones' death, that's a reach, surely. Those companies say they can't be held responsible for everything posted at all times, and they insist they DO shut down accounts when they're reported to be up to something. But the latter thing -- that they will shut down some accounts -- tends to conflict with the "we're just an open platform/free speech" argument at least a little, so who knows what a judge or jury will do? I mean, I don't see a case, really, but stranger things have happened. (Daily Breeze)
