Anonymity Has Its Good Points, Too, You Know
-
So, you wanna be a celebrity, huh? How about a YouTube star, one of those people who do very little but somehow have collected millions of fans? Sound like fun? Meet Marina Joyce, a British YouTube star of international renown who began to appear a little... off. Slurring. Not herself. And since she'd been known to have problems before, her fans... panicked. They saw signals in her eye blinks, they analyzed noises in the videos for clues, they called police, they stalked her house. Her friends are trying to send out the word that she's OK and just going through the kind of personal issues that, you know, real people go through, and the fans are still agog. Which is a problem when your existence is so public that there's no room for the kind of trouble we all run into. (Washington Post)
