If You Showed My Pre-Teen Self Baseball In HD, My Head Would Have Exploded
-
Thursday, August 11, 1951 was the debut of baseball on color TV. 65 years. And it was with the CBS Color Wheel color system that lost to NBC's electronic version and... well, you should look that up, because it's a great story. Here you go, with pictures and everything. Okay, anyone else remember watching in black-and-white? I grew up with B&W TV and actually remember, clearly, watching the Phillies and Mets play in black-and-white in June 1969, and I remember the first game I saw on TV in color, an easy one: My dad brought home a 13-inch Sony Trinitron on October 9, 1971, and we watched the Orioles beat the Pirates in Game 1 of the '71 World Series. It sat on top of the old console black-and-white TV with the built-in record player. Okay, enough nostalgia. (Boston Herald)
