There Are No 'Good' Words To Describe What Happened

In the wake of that horrible Dreamworld theme park ride accident that killed four people in Australia, an EMT talked to the press and one phrase he used became a controversy: "injuries incompatible with life." People got very upset that he said this, complaining that it was cold and clinical and offensive. But it's a phrase that EMTs and other professionals use to describe the kind of injuries that mean instant death -- decapitations, for example. What phrase do you want an EMT to use? Is it insensitive to use a clinical term under those circumstances? (News.com.au)
