You Mean He Doesn't Write His Own Tweets? Scandalous
-
Texas Agriculture Secretary Sid Miller first said he'd been hacked, then said a staffer inadvertently copied and retweeted a poll post that called Hillary Clinton the C-word. You buying any of their explanations? Miller's staff did apologize, but let's face it, this has been going on for a while now -- I remember Sarah Palin also being called that word. The political discourse went from normal disagreement to nuclear insults sometime in the Bush 43 administration -- you could even go back to Carter or at least Reagan -- but the vitriol has NEVER been this widespread. When one of the candidates himself calls opponents schoolyard names and mocks disabled people (yes, he did, don't try to excuse it), when social media is filled with ad hominem attacks and flat-out anti-Semitism and racism with no apologies, we've sunk far lower than I ever thought we'd go.
