Maybe the election magnified this, but as we've talked about here before, Facebook's spectacular growth as the primary "news source" for many Americans is only matched by the spectacular growth of fake news stories and partisan bullsh-t attack items that... okay, I'm gonna let you in on something. I had to mute some people on Facebook and Twitter, not because I want only one side of the news -- I'm still following and reading stuff from left and right, Pro- and Never Trump -- but because some people just refuse to bother to check if something's true or legit. They'll post items without even reading them, mostly because they want to believe the story's true. Doesn't matter how fake it is, someone you know will share it as if it's true, and you'll then see a ton of comments and reply tweets all assuming the item's real. If that's you, stop it. You're spreading lies and propaganda. And if you're one of those people who disdain fact checking or think Snopes is some kind of Commie plot, you might be one of the people I muted. Or unfriended.
