In The Back Of Your Mind, You'll Always Wonder If He's Really Cured
-
Remember the guy in Canada who beheaded and partially ate a fellow Greyhound bus passenger? He's asking for a discharge from a mental health facility now that his schizophrenia is medicated. The victim's family is suitably appalled, but this raises questions about "not guilty by reason of insanity" and what that means, which is that the actor could not control the action and that, treated or medicated, he or she should not be punished. How do you balance that with the victims' families' feeling that justice is not being served? (Canadian Press via CTV News)
