In Those Seats, You're There Just To Say You Were There
-
Jason Gay of the Wall Street Journal actually sat in what was close to the worst seat in the house for the NCAA men's basketball championship, $170, all the way at the top of University of Phoenix Stadium, where, without binoculars, you couldn't really even tell what was going on by the video boards, and the binoculars were of limited help. The question is whether the extra ticket revenue is worth playing the Final Four in football stadia, and the NCAA would laugh at you for asking -- they want every penny they can get, and if they could find a dome with 200,000 seats, they'd play there, atmosphere and sightlines be damned. But Gay mentions the appeal of playing a final at a REAL gym, like the Palestra or Hinkle, and he's right. A final at the Palestra would be absolutely the best thing ever. (Wall Street Journal)
