Why did the man jump 40 feet off a bridge into the cold Hackensack River? He told the police who rescued him from the harsh currents that he did it to practice for a Polar Bear Plunge. This explanation would make more sense if a) he wasn't jumping off a bridge, which is typically not part of a Polar Bear Plunge, and b) it wasn't April, several months after the usual Polar Bear Plunges. He was taken for a psychiatric evaluation, which seems appropriate. (Bergen Record)
