Not Sure Privatizing Safety Is Such A Good Idea

Experts say that if train operators and truckers aren't tested for sleep apnea, accidents will happen and people will die. We've already seen that happen before. The federal government had been planning to require sleep apnea tests for all truck drivers and train engineers. No more: the agencies have abandoned plans for regulating that. It's part of the Trump administration's "all regulations are bad" philosophy. But this regulation would save lives, maybe YOUR life. And the alternative -- leaving it to companies' discretion -- means that most companies won't bother, because it costs money. (AP via KOIN-TV/Portland)
