They Think We're Made Of Money. We Are Not
-
Less than two years ago, NBCUniversal did what everyone in Hollywood is doing: They created a Subscription Video On-Demand (SVOD) service, the comedy network SeeSo. And they spent money on original programming to entice people to subscribe. And it's already shutting down, because they made the same mistake everyone else is making: They're assuming people have unlimited budgets for streaming video subscriptions. Even at four bucks a month, it wasn't something people thought was necessary. And even a little common sense, let alone research, should have told them that. Add up ten bucks for Netflix, a hundred a year for Amazon, maybe Hulu, and what's left over, even for good programming? (Los Angeles Times)
