You Aren't Greg Lemond And You're Not In The Tour de France

Add to the growing list of stories about cyclists tangling with others this one about a guy in London who loved to speed through the city on a bike with no front brakes and yell at pedestrians who wouldn't get out of his way. He hit and killed a pedestrian. He got cleared of manslaughter but convicted of bodily harm by "wanton or furious driving" and is going to a juvie jail for 18 months. Here's the thing: He would fly down the street and yell and swear at pedestrians. He had to know this was going to result in someone at some point unable to get out of his way. 18 months in juvie seems inadequate. But it's interesting: I see a lot of bicyclists around here, and some are nice and polite and obey traffic laws, and others blow through stop signs and red lights and terrorize pedestrians and roam in front of moving cars. Maybe there should be some kind of licensing. (BBC)
