The latest trendy miracle ingredient being infused into recipes at expensive hipster restaurants? Why, it's activated charcoal. Yes, they're putting actual charcoal into food. INTO food. Not under it, not cooking on it, but IN it. They claim you don't taste it, but how can that even be? Besides, the claimed health benefits are sketchy -- it's used to treat overdoses, but other than that, there's no proof it helps anything and it might even be bad for you. But, you know, trendy.
