And Walmart Doesn't Hire As Many Greeters As It Used To
-
You know this already but this article reinforces it: There are few jobs available to people over 55. What's galling is that industry leaders are complaining about low unemployment and the difficulty of finding people to work, yet they won't hire older people. It's blatant age discrimination, but there's no way to prove it: They'll tell you that you're overqualified, that you'd just demand too much salary, that they're concerned they'll hire you and you'll just retire in a few years. But that's all age-related. Companies would rather hire inexperienced but cheap younger workers. Are you concerned about your future? (Minneapolis Star Tribune)
