One of the injured in the New York bike path terror attack was a kid on a school bus whose injuries would normally be enough to keep him out of school. But the very next day, he was in class. Why? Because he wanted to preserve his perfect school attendance record. He wasn't going to end his streak just because someone tried to kill him. That's admirable in its pluckiness. Not that a school attendance streak makes a lot of sense -- you don't get anything special out of it, and it'll be forgotten as soon as you graduate -- but as a you-can't-keep-New Yorkers-down story, it's pretty cool.
