It's Not Thanksgiving Without Your Drunk Uncle, Or With Caviar
-
Here's a reporter getting the chance to sample New York's Old Homestead restaurant's fabled annual $76,000 Thanksgiving dinner, and, yes, everything is over the top, from Wagyu beef lollipops to whipped potatoes topped with $1,600-per-ounce caviar and mashed potatoes with $455-per-pound imported Swedish moose cheese, which I did not know existed. The reporter concludes that what was missing were family and friends. That's important, but, you know, I also think I'd enjoy what I already get -- the homemade turkey purchased at Ralphs on sale, the mashed potatoes we mash ourselves with store-bought butter, the green bean casserole made with Del Monte's, Campbell's, and French's... you know, Thanksgiving. No caviar necessary. (CNBC)
