It'd Be Like The Brooklyn Dodgers Moving To... Oh, Wait, No
-
An expert panel came up with a plan for the future of New York City's mass transit network, and one thing they're proposing is something no New Yorker can imagine: closing the subway overnight Monday through Thursday. Now, on a pure number-crunching level, sure, not too many people ride the subway at 3 am. But it's New York, the City that Never Sleeps. You can't close the subway overnight. You can't. It practically defines New York. They also want to slap tolls on the roads, charge extra for entering the core business area of Manhattan, raise taxes, the usual spending stuff. But shutting down the subway is a non-starter if they know what's good for them, and the city. (New York Daily News)
