Here's one of the occasional articles you'll see that warn everyone not to buy an Amazon Echo or any other "smart speaker" with microphones that always listen. The same people tell you to turn off Siri or any other voice control for your phone. And put a Post-It over your computer webcam. There's no question that the Echo can be hacked and someone might be able to hear your conversations. But a) do you say anything that critical to keep quiet? And b) do you really have privacy anymore? Is the tradeoff worth the convenience? I'm not all that concerned, myself. (Gizmodo)
