If You Know So Much, Why Are You Serving Me My Half-Decaf No Foam?

If you get a full-time job teaching at a college, you can do pretty well financially. But a lot of professors are not full-time, they're adjunct professors. And the colleges like it that way, because they pay adjuncts a LOT less. So much less that the adjuncts end up working at supermarkets and other part-time jobs just to be able to afford their rent. Imagine being a professor and having your students walk into Safeway and see you in a Safeway vest restocking the cereal aisle. (San Francisco Chronicle)
