She COULD Have Released It In The Terminal, You Know
-
In case you were thinking about flying low-cost, ultra-low-frills Spirit Airlines, here's another story, in which a student flying home from Baltimore to Miami for a family medical emergency was told, contrary to what they'd told her when she called ahead, that she could NOT bring Pebbles, her pet dwarf hamster, aboard as a pet and would have to dispose of it. And by "dispose," they meant flush the hamster. Which, because she had no time and nobody to take the pet and no other option, she did. And now she's mulling a lawsuit. The airline denies anyone there said to flush the hamster, but you'd think they'd be able to come up with an alternative, like agreeing to hold the hamster at the office until a friend could pick it up, or refunding the ticket so she could buy an Amtrak ticket. Look, maybe it's for the best for other passengers that they not let people bring pet rodents aboard like that, but they should use some common sense. And if the hamster's in a carrier, how is that different from bringing a dog or cat aboard? If you wanna pay to bring the carrier on board and you keep it clean, should that be a problem?
