Call It Whatever You Want, It Was Heaven

It took only a few hours -- really, from the end of the play to the moment the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office opened for business Monday morning last week -- for several folks to rush to trademark "Philly Special." First, can you really trademark something that will live in Philadelphia sports fans' hearts forever? Second, shouldn't Nick Foles and Doug Pederson own that, since, you know, they made it a thing? It's one thing if they applied for it BEFORE the Super Bowl. But the moment we found out that the play was called the Philly Special, it really became the public's own. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
