Consumer revenge on the Internet isn't a new thing. Yelp and TripAdvisor are basically built on that. But one site has the restaurant industry even more annoyed than they are by Yelp: IWasPoisoned.com, the site where people can post about getting food poisoning from restaurants. The problem is that there's no editorial oversight -- the claims are not confirmed. And people don't always really know what got them sick. Meanwhile, false claims can hurt a business. On the other hand, if you really WERE sickened by a restaurant's poor hygiene, shouldn't you have a right to tell people? The question is whether this is unfair or a public service. Maybe it's a little of both. (New York Times)
