Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School has all the security a school needs: fences, gates, guard. How, then, did the gunman get on campus anyway? That's a good question. He may have timed his arrival for when he knew the gates would be open; he pulled the fire alarm to disable a Code Red safety system and draw out students so he could shoot them. And the school resource officer may not have been present at the time. They typically open the gates 10 minutes before the end of the school day so cars can get out of the lot, and he probably knew this. Is there a security system that could have stopped him and not made the process of getting into and out of the school a problem? (South Florida Sun-Sentinel)
