When the minimum wage laws and insurance concerns cause expenses at restaurants to rise, would you rather the restaurants just raise their prices or tack surcharges onto your bill with minimal notice? In San Diego, some restaurants are doing the latter, in sort of a political protest that's already generated lawsuits on behalf of consumers who don't think a small notice in the window or at the bottom of the bill is sufficient notice. But, again, would you rather see it as higher prices or, say, a 4% surcharge? (KFMB-TV/San Diego)
