Faster Food
-
Fast food has always turned over workers at a fast rate, but at McDonald's, workers say the pace of quitting is picking up. Why? Well, it's not the pay, actually. It's the mobile app orders, new menu items, self-ordering kiosks, and curbside pickup, all of which are creating some chaos behind the counter. The company denies it, saying that they haven't seen more turnover lately, but the rank-and-file says that the stress level is through the roof and the pace of work has accelerated. The things that are supposed to speed things up have instead slowed everything down, and more mistakes are being made. But you gotta assume that all of those jobs will be automated soon enough, anyway. (Bloomberg via Los Angeles Times)
