It's A Trap
-
Here's yet another issue about employment that doesn't get any attention: A study noted the problems that arise from the unpredictable hours of retail workers, who get assigned different hours every week at the last minute. That means the workers can't take a second job, or go to school, because they don't know when they'll be available. And they don't get enough hours to make decent money, because the stores save money by hiring a lot of people for less-than-full-time hours -- no pesky benefits to pay for. It's something else to remember when you're talking about unemployment figures and job creation. (KABC-TV/Los Angeles)
