Probably Cheaper Than Having To Buy Something, So Sure
-
Some New York bars and restaurants are joining in with an app that lets people pay to use their bathrooms without buying anything else, and, well, maybe we finally have a solution to the problem of cities not having sufficient public restrooms. You pay a fee per use -- the price depends on the restaurant -- and the restaurant gets 65% and also can advertise food and drink specials to you via the app. Another startup is an app that lets you check a bag at restaurants for a $6 fee, which I could have used in Dallas the other week. And yet another lets you rent off-hour time in restaurants and bars where they offer WiFi as work space, which I also could have used. It may seem like the restaurants are trying to squeeze revenue from every moment of the day and every square inch of their property, and they are, but if it makes YOUR life easier, so what?
