Don't Go Near The Water. No, Really, You Don't Want To, Trust Us
-
Here's an article about one of the dirtiest rivers you'll ever encounter, the New River, that runs through Mexicali and into California's Imperial Valley. It's so putrid that you can smell it coming, and even though it's improved somewhat, some people think it can't be cleaned, while the governments of Mexico and the U.S. are trying to do just that (and, in some parts of Mexicali, they've built roads and plazas OVER the river to keep it underground and away from people). Yes, some people use it to illegally enter the U.S., because border agents don't want to go near that green water. But you're not going to want to go in there, you DEFINITELY don't want to eat fish from there, and if you fall in, you really need to go to the hospital. Immediately. How can humans allow a river to get that bad? (Los Angeles Times)
