The FDA now wants teething medicine taken off store shelves, because a) the benzocaine may cause rare but deadly side effects, and b) they aren't proven to work anyway. Question: They're just figuring this out now? Okay, they started the warnings 10 years ago and are now getting around to taking the products off the market. But they've been around for decades and decades. They were around when WE were all kids. Also, the stuff will still be available for adult medications like Orajel and Anbesol, but with warnings. Again, why did it take so long? (AP via KNBC-TV/Los Angeles)
