Now, Let's Pass A Raccoon Ordinance For The Same Reason
-
How bad has it gotten in Apopka, a suburb of Orlando? They're considering an ordinance to help the city be eligible for a state grant to buy bear-proof trash cans... and they're actually trailing Orange County and Seminole County, which have already passed similar ordinances. Yes, Central Florida is overrun with bears who get into people's trash and have also attacked humans. Preventing them from getting into the trash really does help; the bears avoid areas where there's no food. But, still, the bears were there before the suburbs, so maybe the bears should have enacted ordinances to prevent humans from showing up. (Orlando Sentinel)
