Good topic for when you've given up on the news: Should musicians always play their biggest hits in concert? This comes up because someone complained to a newspaper columnist that when Nine Inch Nails played Vegas (at one point in my life, I would have never thought those words would ever be uttered, anywhere), they didn't play "Head Like a Hole" or "Closer." And several acts avoid playing their big hits, whether out of boredom from playing them over and over, or out of outright hostility. But you've all been there when an act insists on playing mostly stuff from their "new album" that you don't care about. Does an artist owe the audience the hits, or should it be an artistic decision?
