I live in an area where there are a lot of middle-aged men driving very expensive and fast cars, because you really need a Lambo when you live in an area where no road has a speed limit faster than 45 mph and the nearest freeways tend to be packed with slow-moving (if moving at all) traffic 24/7. Northern Virginia's like that -- you can't drive fast on local roads, the freeways are packed, and fast cars are pointless, but there are a lot of guys needing an alternate display of manhood. And so we have someone who bought a $300,000+ McLaren and totaled it after one day of ownership, wrapping it around a tree. Unless you plan to race it, a McLaren is ridiculously unsuited for normal driving, and really just tells everyone you have more money than you know what to do with. (Washington Post)
