The Record Store In Your Pocket Doesn't Judge You
-
You'll hear more about this on Tuesday's Evening Bulletin podcast, but this record store that's closing after 42 years was one I used to go to back in college and law school; it was walking distance from where I lived. And I'm not all that broken up about it, because it was a lot of what annoyed me about record stores: condescending staff judging your purchases, overpriced, limited selection, trying to be cooler than thou even in the suburbs. Frankly, aside from the artists' pay, I'm happier with the ability to buy or stream what I want, when I want it, with no trend-victim clerk to look down his or her nose at me. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
