Not Every Benefit Can Have Lee Greenwood Or Ted Nugent, You Know
-
I'm sorry, but when a political party in a tight race for Senate resorts to attacking musicians for playing at a rally for the opponent, it just comes off as petty and stupid. In the case of Tennessee Republicans, it's about Jason Isbell and Ben Folds playing a benefit for Phil Bredesen, the Democrat in the race. What, they don't have the right to support the other side? And is there anyone who's ever heard a Jason Isbell song -- going all the way back to his Drive-By Truckers years -- that DOESN'T know he's a progressive? I've seen people indignantly tweeting that they're ripping up his concert tickets (if they're paid for, that's pretty stupid) and will never listen to him again, which would indicate that they're lying about being fans and have never heard his music. I mean, okay, he IS a Braves fan, but if I can overlook THAT.... (The Tennessean)
