Maybe Let's Just Not Name Anything After Anybody Anymore
-
He looked the other way while heinous acts were being committed in his diocese, yet after he moved on from Pittsburgh to D.C., they named a high school after Cardinal Donald Wuerl. Now that the misdeeds are in the news, people in Pittsburgh have been calling for his name to be removed from the school, someone going so far as to spray-paint over his name on the school's sign. Now, Bishop David Zubik says that the name is being removed, but he's weaseling on it by claiming that this is Cardinal Wuerl's own decision, so he won't be a distraction. Sure, it's his own decision. Right. The diocese SHOULD be owning up to what happened, SHOULD care more about the children victimized by clergy, SHOULD be taking the initiative to make things right. Even the Pope thinks so. That the Bishop and Cardinal are behaving like politicians is an insult. (Pittsburgh Post-Gazette)
