We are all better off because of the kind people who help animals. But sometimes, those people get hurt by the very animals they try to help. Like the women, for example, who are being sought after helping a raccoon off the busy Delsea Drive in South Jersey and may have gotten rabies as a result. Or the woman who rescued a pit bull and was mauled to death by the dog two weeks later. In neither case can you blame the animal, considering that they're, you know, animals, and don't know any better. Even the pit bull was likely raised by some other human to attack. And you hope stories like this won't dissuade people from being kind to animals. (South Jersey Times/NJ.com; WJZ-TV/Baltimore)
