It was Sunday night in the Queen Village neighborhood of South Philadelphia, which is near (but not directly on) the Delaware River. It was quiet and calm and suddenly there was the sound of Judas Priest, and it was loud. What the hell? Turns out that a) the band was playing a concert at Camden's BB&T Pavilion, across the (wide) river from Philadelphia, b) the sound was traveling all the way across the river to their homes, and c) blame the weather. The experts say that temperature inversion, the same phenomenon that can cause weird radio reception, combined with winds blowing from Camden towards Philly sent the music to Queen Village and broke the Rosh Hashanah peace. So you don't have to live right next to a concert venue to get affected by loud music. Interesting. (Philadelphia Inquirer)
