Probably Not Going To Have That Much Effect On Profits Either Way

While Nike stock hit an all-time high, politicians and other officials are heading in the other direction: In one story, we have the Mississippi State Public Safety Commissioner ordering that state police no longer buy Nike products because, in his estimation, they're "unpatriotic" for endorsing First Amendment rights to protest, which is a little, you know, off. (Yes, police, the target of that protesting, have every right to not buy products from a company who enlists someone who's protesting police as a spokesperson. But when a state official orders it and mischaracterizes Nike as "unpatriotic," it's just stupid.) And in Texas, the Texas Farm Bureau, an agricultural advocacy organization, is prohibiting employees from wearing Nike on the job, because, it seems, they're worried someone will be offended. Are people that easily offended? Because I just bought a pair of Nike sneakers and if someone's offended by them, I want to know... so I can laugh. (AP via Jackson Clarion-Ledger; KWTX-TV/Waco)
