In the past of every successful person, there's someone who deemed them unworthy. It happened to me, but I'm in no way David Bowie, who, according to a new documentary, was deemed devoid of personality and amateur by BBC talent judges in 1965. A few years later, he was an international superstar. Not that what he and his then-band were doing in 1965 was great, but they didn't see anything in him at all. Which is to say that the self-appointed "experts" often don't know what they're talking about. (The Guardian)
