Cheaper Than Putting Mannequins In 'Em, I Guess

Why are they changing the seats from red to black at Little Caesars Arena in Detroit this year, just the second year of the building's existence? If you've been there, or you've watched a game on TV, you know: Those red seats showed how many of them are empty, especially for Pistons games. The place is at best half-full, and the red seats are glaring. Black seats won't be as obvious. The Pistons and Wings have been adamant that the empty seats have been sold and fans are merely milling about the concourses, and while the concourses there ARE large, I've been to a lot of NBA and NHL games and I've never seen half the crowd in the concourses. The only exception is in buildings where the ultra-premium seats sometimes are empty at the start of a half or a period because the rich folks are in the lounge area underneath. Maybe the Pistons and Wings should concentrate on being entertaining and winning before blaming the concession stands. (Detroit Free Press)
