Ideal If You're Just Going To Buy All New Clothes When You Get There

The basic economy war isn't much of a battle, because, well, see, American Airlines decided to let the cheapest economy fare passengers bring a carry-on aboard, breaking from the ultra-low-cost airlines, who charge for that privilege. United? They're sticking to banning carry-ons for their lowest-fare passengers. "We're happy with where we're at,'' United's EVP/Chief Commercial Officer says. Yeah, they're happy charging for something that costs them nothing and should be free. American's stance is a 180 from how they launched the fare; Delta allows carry-ons and has from the beginning of their basic economy fare. Eventually, though, I'm guessing that there's going to be a charge for every item you bring aboard. Then a charge for wearing a coat on board. Then an oxygen fee. Then a fee on the fees. How much of this are you willing to endure? (USA Today)
